Salisbury outplayed Paulton and took a tenth-minute lead as Sam Roberts set up Owen Howe, who thundered a great shot past Paulton keeper, Alexis Andre.

They added to the score six minutes later, as Lewis Benson’s cross from the right found left-back, Eddie Perrett, who drove home. Benson’s long Ball then saw Stuart Green running through, and with only the keeper to beat, Andre snuffed out the chance.

On 45 minutes, Rovers were awarded a penalty, as James Byrne was fouled, but saw his penalty saved by Charlie Searle. Home left-back, Josh Cann, was unlucky to be given two yellow cards and sent off.

‘The Whites’ nearly had a flying start to the second half, as Green’s shot was deflected, and from the clearance, Josh Morgan-Williams found Monelle and he tried to curl around Searle.

Morgan-Williams brought a save from Searle, and in the next move, Howe looked certain to score as he rounded Andre, but delayed tapping the ball into an empty net and Andre dived onto the ball.

Green sent over a lovely cross, and Howe should have done better with his header. In the final minute, Joe Guest tested Searle with an overhead attempt.
