PAULTON Rovers, with three players making their debuts, gained an impressive 4-0 away victory over Bridgwater United in the Premier Division of the Jewson Western Football League.

Rovers made a great start when, in the third minute, Kyle Witt hustled the ball away from a defender in the box, squaring the ball low across the goal. The keeper tried to push the ball away but only as far as the waiting Kitan Jaiyeoba who swept the ball in.

Debutant Dean Griffiths doubled the lead in the 13th minute, heading in from a corner. Rovers worked hard from front to back meaning that Alfie Kelsey was never really troubled in the Paulton goal. Things didn’t go entirely the way of the visitors though as Billy Padfield was forced off with an injury after only just returning.

In added times Dan Dodimead was sent off for Bridgwater. He was initially yellow carded for a hard challenge and what happened after was confusing but it ended with him being sent.

Paulton’s third goal came just before the end of the half. Kitan pressed from a goal kick coming away with the ball and giving him a one on one with the keeper. He neatly tucked the ball away to give Rovers a commanding lead against ten men.

Despite being reduced in numbers, Bridgwater kept going forward at the start of the second-half but could not break down Rovers’ defence to create any clear-cut chances.

Dean Griffiths then had to leave the field through injury meaning Paulton had to shuffle players round into unnatural positions. But the work rate continued and the hosts started to runout of energy meaning Rovers came back into the game in a more attacking way.

United had Will Hughes sent off for a strong challenge on Kitan before Paulton snapped up a fourth through Elliott Haffenden.
