PAULTON ROVERS U18s 3 FROME TOWN U18s 2
The Western Counties Floodlit Youth League Central Division continued with Rovers’ U18s coming out on top against Frome Town in a hard-fought game.
Paulton started the better of the two sides, with Lucas Hawkins and Mason Harrison having shots blocked and over the bar. In the twelfth minute, Paulton got their first with Jake Curtis’ shot being palmed into the path of Mason Harrison, who fired it past keeper, Seth Locke.
Frome made an early tactical sub, with Charlie John replacing Jim Lunt, giving the visitors two quick chances with Jakob Seviour shooting wide and firing his free-kick over the bar. Paulton got their second before half-time thanks to Harrison, who slid in to flick the ball home with his head after Curtis’ shot was parried by Frome’s keeper.
Both sides started lively in the second half, with Hawkins and Porter having chances that missed the target. Harrison had a chance in the 69th minute with a twenty-yard strike going just-wide.
Paulton got their third goal with Harrison playing the ball across the box to Owen Smith, who tapped it in from close range. Two minutes later, Frome got one back when Max Brewster struck past Salter to give them a glimmer of hope.
They quickly got a second, with Seviour’s strike just too much for home keeper, Sean Salter, to make it 3-2. With two minutes left of normal time, Josh Clarke shot just over, hitting the top netting and missing the top-left corner as Frome sought an equaliser.
Paulton held on for the win, with their defensive line-up bonding and playing better together.
