Paulton Ladies Reserves 0 Banwell Ladies 1
Paulton Ladies Reserves played out a hard fought game that was decided by a single goal, scored by their visitors on the half-hour mark.
Looking to complete the league double over their visitors, the hosts started well and started to create chances. Banwell looked dangerous as they grew into the game and it looked like being a tight game. Paulton rued their missed chances when a Banwell striker capitalised on a moment of hesitation in the home defence, scoring what proved to be the winning goal from the edge of the box.
The second half saw both defences on top as chances became hard to find. Stevens marshalled her young defence well, with home keeper, Quinn, saving well and bravely punching clear in the visitors’ two best attacks of the second period. At the other end Seymour, Clarke, Haskins and Ford failed to seriously test the Banwell keeper when chances fell their way as they tried in vain to score an equaliser.
The referee’s whsitle finally ended the game as Paulton ran out of time to score and Banwell avenged defeat from the reverse fixture earlier in the season when Paulton won 3–2.
