Rovers welcomed back Andrew Hannah in goal and Dale Evans in centre midfield for the proverbial ‘six-pointer’ away at Slimbridge.

Paulton took the lead on the eleventh minute thanks to great sole effort by Jack Ball, who weaved through three Slimbridge defenders and rifled a low shot into the bottom right hand corner.

With Slimbridge offering little on the attacking front, confidence in the Rovers side visibly grew after the goal, with some well-worked chances fired straight at the keeper.

In the 22nd minute, Rovers deservedly got their second when Dale Evans skipped past a sliding challenge and slotted the ball into the bottom corner, leaving the keeper with no chance.

With the home side looking to get back into the game, Rovers added a third in the 63rd minute, when a Dale Evans long-range free-kick beat the keeper all ends up, crashed against the underside of the bar, and came back out to Joe Hillard, who smashed home for Rovers.

Six minutes later, Slimbridge gave themselves hope of a come-back when Mike Bryant fired home, but the game was well and truly put to bed when Jack Ball grabbed his second and Paulton’s fourth after latching onto a long ball and finishing well past the despairing Ollie Hall.

Star man of the match: Jack Ball, Paulton Rovers.
