PAULTON Rovers found themselves facing a blank Saturday (January 10) after their home game against Wellington in the Premier Division of the Jewson Western Football League was postponed.

The decision to call off the match because of a frozen pitch was made by the referee shortly before the kick-off with the visitors having arrived at the ground.

It was one of several matches postponed because of the bad weather, with only three games played in the Premier Division.

Not surprisingly, leaders Clevedon Town proved too strong for bottom side AFC St Austell, winning 11-0 at home against the struggling Cornish side who crashed to their 23rd defeat in 23 matches. It enabled Clevedon to extend their lead to four points over second-placed Torpoint Athletic who were one of the teams left without a game.

Despite not playing, Paulton held on to third place on goal difference from Sidmouth Town who have played three more matches than their promotion rivals.
