PURNELL SPORTS 4 CLEVEDON 1
Purnell Sports U14 Girls’ team played Clevedon on a bright and sunny day. Purnell started well, and the whole team looked confident and
assured in possession.
Purnell pressured Clevedon for every ball, and it wasn’t long before the girls took advantage of the possession, with Monica slotting in her first competitive goal of the season.
Lauryn put in a great performance on the right wing and showed great strength and determination to brush off a Clevedon defender and score Purnell’s second. Jasmine had a goal ruled out for offside, and it wasn’t long before some great link-up play from Monica led to Jasmine getting on the scoresheet.
It was 3-0 at half-time, and Purnell started the second half as they had finished the first, hassling the Clevedon players and showing great determination to be first to the ball. Clevedon tested the defence on a number of occasions, but the pace of Ellie and Tilly stopped them from getting their shots off.
A foul in the box led to a Clevedon penalty, and Alice in goal was unfortunate not to save it, as she guessed the right way and got her hands to the ball. Purnell didn’t let their heads drop, and Maddy tested the goalkeeper with a number of long-range shots. Jasmine scored her second of the match, with the match finishing 4-1 to Purnell. Player of the Match went to Lauryn.
