PAULTON Rovers’ away match against Helston Athletic was among many games called off in the Premier Division of the Jewson Football League over the weekend because of the atrocious weather.
The match was always in doubt following heavy rain during the week which also washed out Paulton’s Somerset Premier Cup tie at home to Weston super Mare in mid-week. This tie has now been rearranged for Tuesday, February 17 (7.30p.m.).
Welton Rovers were also due to play at home to Calne Town in the first division of the Jewson League on Saturday but this game, too, fell victim of the wet weather.
Welton had been hoping to build on their 4-0 home success over Keynsham Town in Division One of the previous weekend.
Meanwhile, weather permitting, Paulton make the trip down to Ivybridge to play in the Les Phillips Cup on Saturday, January 31.
Both teams play in the Premier Division of the Jewson League. Paulton are in a promotion-chasing position while Ivybridge are in mid-table.
Leaders Clevedon Town have a top of the table clash away to Torpoint Athletic who are lying second with three games in hand on their rivals.
Welton are set to play away to Avonmouth who are one of the favourites for promotion in the first division. Devizes Town, who are top, entertain Bitton.
Premier Division fixtures for Saturday, January 31: AFC St Austell v Bradford Town, Barnstaple Town v Newquay, Brislington v Shepton Mallet, Torpoint Athletic v Clevedon Town, Wellington v Oldland Abbotonians.
Division One: Almondsbury v Hengrove Athletic, AEK Boco v Odd Down, Avonmouth v Welton Rovers, Bristol Telephones v Wells City, Calne Town v Mendip Broadwalk, Devizes Town v Bitton, Longwell Green Sports v Cheddar, Radstock Town v Keynsham Town, Sturminster Newton United v Shirehampton.
