Radstock Town 2 Warminster Town 2
The home side twice came from behind to deny fourth place Warminster Town victory in an entertaining draw at an unseasonably warm and sunny Southfield.
Radstock had the best of the early exchanges and Morgan Skipp almost gave them the lead in the second minute, but his shot cannoned off the post and shortly after an Ali Sen free-kick grazed the top of the crossbar.
Despite being on the backfoot in the early minutes, the visitors could have gone ahead in the tenth minute, but Seviour’s header went wide of the post and minutes later they went close again but McKay’s shot was blocked by Josh Howe.
The game became a real end to end affair as the half progressed with both sides creating and wasting opportunities.
After forty-five minutes of entertaining deadlock, the second half was only twenty seconds old when a long ball from the back was latched onto by Francois Allen who powered into the penalty area and drove a fierce shot past Scrivens.
The home sides response was immediate and both Jack Hopper and Morgan Skipp saw efforts blocked before Hopper picked up a loose ball on the edge of the penalty area and powered his way into a shooting position before smashing the ball past Thomson in the visitor’s goal on fifty-six minutes.
Much to the enjoyment of the crowd both sides then took it in turns to attack and both keepers had to be alert to keep their goal intact. However, on seventy-six minutes McKay did well to get the ball through to Seviour who from twelve yards fired the ball into the net.
The lead didn’t last long though as Rustell got on the end of an Ali Sen cross to place a powerful header past Thomson less than a minute later.
Rustell almost won the game for the home side five minutes from the end, but Thomson saved well from his header.
A point each keeps well in the hunt for a play-off place but both will be rueing the opportunities they didn’t take!
