The referee had no alternative but to call off the game on 55 minutes, after consulting both Managers and Captains, to the disappointment of Cambridge City, who were winning 1–0.
Constant rain had not affected the pitch at the start and Mario Mateus was denied a penalty as he appeared to be pushed over by Martin Standen.
The deteriorating conditions meant many misplaced balls and James Hall wasted a good chance when he shot early, allowing Paulton keeper, Ben John, to easily hold.
Aaron Brown hit a free kick sliced by ‘The Lilleywhite’s’ full back, Ieuan Lewis, thankfully into his keeper, Zak Barratt’s hands.
Rovers’ central defenders, Craig Allan and Alex Grimshaw, were keeping a tight rein on striker, Adam Murray. Barratt was on hand to save in the last minute of the half from Rovers’ skipper, Darren Mullings.
Within two minutes of the restart, Hall scored delicately, flicking home a cross from Kaan Fehmi.
The torrential rain was stopping the ball rolling very far and in the end, referee, James Durcan, had to make the crucial decision. The game will be rearranged subject to league approval on Tuesday, 12th April.
Star Man of the Match: Craig Allan (Paulton Rovers).
