PAULTON ROVERS 0 WINCHESTER CITY 3

Doug Hillard Sports sponsored the game in the Southern League Challenge Cup Quarter Final.

A smash and grab display by Winchester belied Paulton’s dominant possession and chances which were not converted counted for nothing as Winchester scored two first-half goals on the counter attack.

Dave Sims-Burgess chipped over the keeper then had a shot deflected for a corner.

Ollie Briggs saw his drive parried by Rovers young keeper, Aaron Sainsbury, whilst his opposite number, Ryan Pryce, similarly saved from Ed Butcher.

The Citizens went ahead on 28 minutes as Domenico Pansar-Dower broke down the right and his pull back was fired home by Ollie Bailey.

Three minutes later, Ik Hill’s shot was saved by Sainsbury but Bailey followed up to turn into the net.

Sims-Burgess saw his shot turned off the line with Bament blasting over and Pryce saving from Braeden Symes.

Rovers started the second half brightly and Sims-Burgess shot wide.

Winchester hit again on the counter attack and Briggs slip to Sim Mlambo, whose pass was finished off by Bailey, completed his hat trick.

Paulton kept threatening with Sims-Burgess failing to turn home Butcher’s cross and Pryce saved from Bament.

Youth team player, Luke Seviour, came on for his debut and acquitted himself even testing Pryce. Late on Hillard’s cross found the busy Sims-Burgess, who turned only to miss the target.

Subs for Paulton: 53 mins off Sloggett for Nuno Felix, 66 off Withey for Joe Hillard and 71 off Symes for Luke Seviour.
