What a difference a few days makes after the indifferent loss at home to AFC Totton. Paulton went to Southern League Premier Frome Town in the CCS Southern League Cup and deservedly came away with a 2–0 win.

Rovers had the better of early play until Frome striker, Ryan Bath, tested Rovers’ keeper, Rob Brown. The Paulton centre-forward hit the underside of the crossbar on fifteen minutes. Captain, Dale Evans, drove a powerful free-kick and brought a save from Frome’s stopper, Seb Tylek.

Paulton went ahead after 32 minutes, as Ryan Gay laid the ball into the path of Malpas, who struck a low shot past Tylek. On the stroke of half-time, Malpas hit another shot wide of the post. On 61 minutes, Man of the Match Malpas grabbed a second for the visitors; his strike taking a wicked deflection to deceive Tylek. Frome pressed and shot from Matt Morris, Dan Withey and Dan Denvik, but they failed to test Brown.

With fifteen minutes left, a poor tackle on the lively

Lovibond led to a melee, after which a Frome substitute was shown a red card and two further players were shown a yellow. The home attack could not penetrate the Rovers defence, with Trey Anderson, Ben Pictor, Jamie Laird, Sam Hedges and Davies standing firm. Tony Walsh
