A young Chilcompton football team are ending the current season on a high after securing a sponsorship deal for branded jackets.
Chilcompton Sport Under-9s, made up of eight local players, were delighted to receive joint funding from Chilcompton residents, Duncan and Nichola, owners of Midsomer Norton-based businesses, Baynton Williams Removals and Storage and D&J Self Storage.
The team had secured the deal back in October, however, following a difficult 2020/21 season due to Covid-19 restrictions and a number of lockdowns halting play, they only played three league matches overall before the league was cancelled.
However, training was allowed to restart in April and the team have been training hard and are looking ahead to the next football season which starts in September.
“It has been another tough year for football, so we are thrilled to receive this support from our new sponsors, enabling us to get these jackets for the team,” said Coach, Paul Lintern. “We are now looking ahead to the upcoming season and training hard to catch up on all the lost time due to Covid-19. We are also looking to expand our team by two or three more players.
“When we were approached by Chilcompton Under-9s for support, we were more than happy to help our local club,” said Director, Duncan Williams. “We wish them all the best in the future.”
Chilcompton Sport Under-9s are looking for up to three more enthusiastic players from the current school year four to join their team. If your child is interested in joining Chilcompton Sport, please contact Paul on: 07772 771984.
