The Mid-Somerset Football League is proud to report that five of their teams are through to the last eight of the Somerset Junior Cup after Saturday’s games.

Coleford travelled away and won at Shepton Beauchamp, 3–0. Scoring started with a flying header from Curt Mcinerney, followed by a goal by Luke Litterick a few minutes later and Mac Fisher came off the bench to wrap up the scoring in the 89th minute. Radstock A scored two goals in the first six minutes against Chilcompton Reserves; scorers Alex Newbold and Andrew Hicks were helped by a visitor’s own goal to make it 3–0 at half-time. This scoreline was not a true reflection of the game, as Chilcompton had two very good chances to score, just before the break. Twice they were left with just the goalkeeper to beat, but shot wide. Josh Lines made it safe for the home team with a good headed goal in the second half, Westfield Reserves won at home against Ashton United, 5–2; Frome Collegians needed extra time to overcome Montacute 4-2 and Clutton Reserves had a good home win against Templecombe Rovers, 4–2.

In the Premier Division, Interhound won a hard fought game away against Mells, 3–2 and Temple Cloud won away to Purnell Sports Reserves, 6–1.

Victoria failed to score for the first time in the First Division this season, drawing 0–0 at home to Belrose. Baltonsborough won at Westhill Sports, 6–2, which gives them a three point lead at the top of the table from Victoria. This was the home team’s first league loss of the season, and leaves them seven points behind the leaders, but they have two games in hand. Chew Reserves beat Meadow at home, 7–2.

Leaders of the Second Division, Somer, didn’t have a game, which gave Peasedown Albion the chance to close the gap, which they did, with a 3–0 home win against Evercreech. Their scorers were Mark Gould (2) and one from substitute, Lee Gould. Coleford Reserves won well at home against Westhill Sports Reserves, 4–1. Scorers were Luke Welch, Stewart Bryant, Jamie Olding and Dan Willis. Frome Town Reserves won at home, 3–2, against Pensford Reserves and Glastonbury Reserves get their first point of the season, drawing 2–2 at home to Saltford Reserves.

Peasedown Albion Reserves lead the top of the Third Division by five points after going away to draw specialists, Chilcompton. Sharing the points with a 3–3 draw, Old Crown (Weston) stay second, winning away to Westfield A, 6–0. Purnell A secured their second win of the season away to Wessex, 4–3. Timsbury Reserves’ improvement continues, with a good win away to bottom team, Pilton Reserves, 4–0, and Farrington Reserves’ good run ended, losing away to Chilcompton Sports A, 2–1.
