A goal four minutes from time from Rhys Cook rescued a point for Timsbury Athletic in the Somerset County League Division One East. The draw sees Timsbury losing more ground at the top of the division, but Hengrove were well worth their point.
Timsbury began well and mounted a series of attacks but lacked a cutting edge. Matt Brooks headed a Jem Lutwama corner well-wide after finding himself unmarked at the near post, and Ebner Heatley was equally wasteful with a header from Lutwama’s cross.
Heatley then broke clear but saw his shot saved by keeper Dan Knight, before Anton Williams shot well wide for the visitors with a good chance. Williams set up Chinloy Chance soon after, but his shot produced a great save from home keeper Jack Scrivens, who then did even better to deny Steve Ratcliffe.
A fluent Timsbury move ended with Jack Nix shooting well-wide, before Hengrove took the lead after 41 minutes. A goalmouth skirmish ended with Chance shooting high into the home net.
Early in the second half, a cross from Jesse Bishop almost produced the equalizer for the home side, and Rhys Cook shot over the Hengrove bar with another clear opportunity.
The impressive Scrivens made another important save to thwart Williams, while Knight did equally well at the other end saving from Cook. Time was running out for the home side when substitute Tuso Makombe set off on a dazzling run down the left, before pulling back to Cook who converted confidently.
Star Man of the Match: Jack Scrivens, Timsbury Athletic.
