Five goals in the last 22 minutes saw Timsbury ease to a 6–0 home win against bottom of the table, Cutters Friday, and move up to third place in the Somerset County League Division One East. Despite dominating the play, the home side had struggled to add to Jesse Bishop’s first half goal, but an own goal from Olanyi Martins after 68 minutes opened the floodgates and Timsbury capitalised.
Timsbury should have opened the scoring after eleven minutes when Lewis Blannin was brought down in the box, but Ellis Hancock’s penalty was easily saved by visiting keeper, Ross Hamilton. Soon after, a fine cross from Jack Quinn was headed wide for Timsbury by Craig Dowling, who then provided Bishop with a near post header that was well saved by Hamilton.
An almost identical move saw Timsbury at last take the lead after 24 minutes, when Hamilton could do nothing to keep out Bishop’s well-directed header. A snap shot from Shaq Walker was Cutters’ best effort, but this was comfortably held by home keeper, Jack Scrivens. With half-time approaching, a fluent Timsbury move set Quinn up with a great chance, but his shot crashed against the crossbar.
Early in the second half, Alex Hazel was just wide for the visitors, but it was soon Timsbury who continued to move forward and another smart move ended with Hamilton making another crucial save from Blannin. The unfortunate Martins volleyed home past his own keeper from Dowling’s cross for Timsbury’s second and Dowling himself added the home side’s third, after being set up by Blannin. It was all one-way traffic now and after substitute, Ashley Curtis had struck the Cutters’ bar from a corner, Hancock headed home from Jimmy Hailston’s corner. Dowling, who had been involved in most of Timsbury’s goals, added his second with four minutes remaining and Hancock notched the home side’s sixth goal with another firm header this time from Joe Parker’s corner.
