Timsbury Athletic moved out of the relegation spot in the Somerset County League Division One East with a comfortable 3–0 home win over bottom of the table, Welton Rovers Reserves. Unbeaten in seven matches, the home side’s recent resurgence has given them a great chance of maintaining their league status.

There was a slow start to the match and it took twenty minutes for either side to create a meaningful chance, with Joe Parker shooting wide for Timsbury after being put through by Toby Neilson. Grant Smith then found the side, netting with another effort for the home side and followed up by wasting a header from Jack Nix’s cross.

The deadlock was eventually broken on the half hour when Joe Hallett finished a fine run with a crisp shot past Marc Rhymer in the Welton goal. The visitors had offered little up front but then came close to an equaliser when Timsbury keeper, Ben Paisey, showed great instinct to touch an excellent shot from Bradley Whittock onto the bar. Deep into first half stoppage time, Parker made it 2–0 when he converted a Nix corner.

Early in the second half, Luke Humphries was just wide for Welton and at the other end, the lively substitute, Ebner Heatley, created danger with a cross which evaded all his team mates. A goal-bound effort from Nix was blocked by the visiting defence, while Parker shot wide with another chance. In a rare Welton threat, Ben Hancock did well to get in a clearing header from a Whittock effort and then Nix blazed well wide with a further opportunity. Timsbury tied the game up with fifteen minutes to go when Heatley raced clear and calmly shot past Rhymer. Jimmy Hailston looked certain to add a fourth for the home side, but his header was well saved by Rhymer.
