Dominic Eatherden has been reappointed as Manager of Somerset County League Division One East side, Timsbury Athletic, for the fifth successive season. The decision was ratified at the club’s AGM, which was held in the Cricket Clubroom. His Assistant will again be Paul Tarmas. Kevin Abbott will continue at the helm of the Mid-Somerset League Reserve team.

In his second report as Chairman, Rob Veater looked back on a highly successful season for the club. While the previous year had been a difficult one, he said the last campaign had seen the First team play some of the most entertaining and attractive football for years. For most of the season, the team had been in with a great chance of getting promotion to the Premier league, but unfortunately fell at the final hurdle, finishing third, behind two very strong sides in Clutton and Stockwood Green.

Veater said that the Reserve team continues to flourish, with a crop of youngsters stepping up to help the First team. They had several promising Cup runs and their fine league form resulted in them being promoted to Division Two of the Mid-Somerset League. Their promotion meant that the club is now able to run a Third team under the guidance of Paul Hallett.

The Chairman was pleased that discipline had greatly improved this year and the club won a ‘Fair Play’ award for the first half of the year. He was also excited by the ground improvements embarked on, with a section of the pitch barrier and dressing room modifications complete.

Manager Eatherden expressed his disappointment at not gaining promotion, but said it had been a great season and in fairness, the two promoted clubs had only lost one game between them. He said there had been a great atmosphere in the team and players had confirmed their desire to stay at the club and hopefully help the team to promotion next season.
