Timsbury made it two wins out of two in the Bristol and District League Senior Division, with a convincing seven wicket home win against Bristol Asians. A year ago, the Bristol side had battered Timsbury with a score of 320, but after winning the toss and deciding to bat, they were a long way off a repeat performance with a meagre total of 93 that the home side overhauled in less than an hour.
Timsbury’s opening bowler, Sam Hoddinott, struck a significant blow with the very first ball of the match, dismissing the dangerous Adnan Malik who holed out to Jesse Bishop at point. It was to be the forerunner of a fine spell of bowling by the off-spinner, who took 5–36 in his nine over spell aided by some erratic batting from the visitors. Jon Strand chipped in with three wickets and the returning Ellis Hancock grabbed a brace as the Asians were all out for 93.
Mark Sage and Adam Brinkworth then made rapid progress towards the target before the latter was lbw for seventeen. Nathan Hawkins and Strand came and went quickly, both failing to trouble the scorers, but Sage and Paul Cracknell ensured there would be no collapse. Sage finished unbeaten for the second week, following with 36 not out and Cracknell hit a quickfire unbeaten 22 that included five fours.
A trip to Almondsbury now awaits Timsbury this coming Saturday, as they look to build on their promising start to the season.
