WELTON Rovers’ hopes of winning their first match of the season in the first division of the Jewson Western Football League were dashed when they slumped 4-0 away to fellow strugglers Cheddar in midweek.

Cheddar, who had won only one of their previous eight matches, led 2-0 at half time before going on to clinch all three points.

It left Rovers second from bottom in the table with only three points from their opening eight league matches.

Devizes Town and Bitton maintained their unbeaten records at the top with victories over Warminster Town at home (4-0) and Keynsham Town (2-0) away respectively, with Devizes having a superior goal difference.
