WELTON Rovers produced one of their most complete displays of the season to beat play‑off contenders Bitton 4-1 away in the first division of the Jewson Western League.

Welton began with purpose, and Ben Snell fired over from distance, while the pace of Will Ford and Gio Angeletta immediately unsettled the home defence. Bitton responded when Joe Carter’s deep cross found Mickey Parsons; his header appeared to be drifting wide until a sudden gust forced it against the Welton upright, with Will Hunter wisely leaving it.

Ibrahima Diallo then shot wide before Matt Morris went close to scoring twice.

Welton went ahead through captain Caelen Simpson who scored with a composed finish when he curled the ball beyond Teddy Maggs.

Bitton emerged quickly after the break, with Hunter saving well from Parsons, but Welton soon reasserted themselves. Snell released Morris for a shot that Maggs saved, before Morris was brought down by Saracen Yates on the edge of the box. Yates was booked, and Morris’ resulting free‑kick was superbly tipped away by the Bitton keeper.

The second goal arrived in the 66th minute. Morris delivered an excellent cross where Ford met it with a first‑time volley. Five minutes later, Welton added a third. Alex Wych combined neatly with Morris, and when the ball broke to Snell he finished confidently.

Bitton’s frustrations grew, and Yates was dismissed for a second yellow card. Despite being reduced to ten men, Bitton continued to push and Hunter produced another fine save before the hosts pulled one back. A long throw from Luke Osgood caused a scramble in the Welton area, and the ball was eventually forced over the line.

From the restart, Welton worked the ball to Cris Pile on the right. Spotting Maggs off his line, Pile executed a perfectly judged lob to restore the three‑goal cushion. Bob Allard.
