This local pre season derby saw four goals scored at either end on Friday night with Paulton easing to a win against a constructive Radstock side.

Rovers pressed from the start and cross field ball from Braeden Symes found Jake Sloggett on the left wing turn his marker and fire into the net after four minutes.

Sloggett nearly added to the score three minutes later as his low drive was cleared off the line by Liam Watson.

‘The Miners’ levelled on twelve minutes as Simon Millard’s cross from the right was sliced off the foot of the unfortunate Paulton centre back, Trey Anderson flying passed the outstretched hand of his keeper Jack Scrivens.

In the next attack Rovers went ahead as Adam Kelly threaded the ball to Dan Cottle to make it 2-1.

Not to be out done, Radstock equalised again in the 24th minute as a cross from the left by Morgan Marsh was deflected and then parried by Scrivens into the path of Elliott Dugan who made no mistake from close range.

This buoyed Rovers with Symes heading over from Cottle’s right wing corner and then on 36 minutes Paulton went ahead again as Dave O’Hare dribbled past two visiting defenders with the ball falling to Lee Ibrahim who buried the ball into the net past veteran keeper Jason Matthews.

A minute later and it was 4-2 as a move started by Cottle saw Sloggett run and slip the ball back to Cottle to hit a low drive into the net.

Both sides made several changes for the second half and Cottle nearly completed his hat trick rifling a shot tipped around for a corner by Matthews.

Paulton scored a fifth goal on 53 minutes as sub Tyler Jackson flew down the left wing after neat interplay with Cottle, Jackson fizzed a cross thumped home by Leighton Jackson from close range.

Goalkeeper action at both ends as Cottle brought a fine save from Matthews and then Scrivens saved from Rico Sobers.

Rovers made it 6-2 after sixty seven minutes as O’Hare laid the ball to Cottle who played in Ibrahim whose lovely feint gave him room to round the keeper and tap into the empty net.

After a quiet spell on 84 minutes Sloggett cut in from the right and curled a beauty which clipped the top of the cross bar.

With minutes remaining, home centre half, Toby Rennie stepped forward hitting a thunderbolt of a shot brilliantly tipped over by Matthews.
