‘The Greenbanks’ picked up their first point last Saturday in an unremarkable game which lacked quality and was overshadowed by too much kick and rush.
Bedworth’s first chance after five minutes saw Alex Naughton chase down a loose ball, but his cross was too long. Ben Bament combined with Sam Teale, then Mitchell Page headed on to Tom Knighton, who turned, shooting straight at Denham Baines.
Both sides had a series of half chances before Ross Staley, making his Paulton debut, tried an angled ball cut out as Bament raced towards the ball. Just before half-time Naughton shot wide, missing a good chance.
Rovers looked sharper on the restart, as Knighton turned his marker only to weakly shoot into the hands of the keeper. Then Page set up Bament, who narrowly drove wide of the post.
Substitute Cam Brown crossed for Dave O’Hare to head wide. Bristol Rovers’ loanee, Dominic Thomas, was showing some skill and found Cam Brown, with his neat run and shot blocked by Captain, Mark Allbrighton.
Page sent Cam Brown away and Bedworth conceded a corner which he took and keeper Hines punched away. Naughton then laid the ball across the goal and Luke Rowe blasted wide.
It could be a long, hard season for both sides!
Man of the Match/Star Man Dominic Thomas (Paulton Rovers).
