The rain stopped long enough for the Fosseway Seniors Golf Section to hold their charity event in aid of the British Heart Foundation, although those in the final pairings still managed to get a soaking.

The Texas Scramble saw the Timsbury duo of Howard Nowell and Malcolm Tucker come out on top and win the Charity Medal, with a gross score of 68 (nett 50).

Three couples finished two shots behind. The in-form pairing of George Underwood and John Wighton finished second on countback, followed by Ken Tucker with Frank Reeves and Bill Lester with Graham Edgell. The main club section of the charity event was put back a week because of the weather.

On Thursday, 13th February, the Seniors will be hoping for a good weather forecast when they hold the Gruesomes' event for the Broadway and Smith Cup. It has also been announced that the away day at Wheathill Golf Club, planned for May 28th, will now take place a week earlier on May 21st.
