The Vic South Trophy Winter Bowmaker provided the closest contest of the season for Fosseway Seniors Golf section with just five points separating all eight teams. In the end, Reg Curtis, Brian Phelps and Geoff Weeks came out on top with a total of 78 points. Second were Cyril Blacker, Howard Nowell and Geoff Broadway and third, were Bill Lester, Graham Edgell and Henry Thomas, who were level on points but were beaten on countback.
After defeating Frome Seniors at home earlier in the season, Fosseway found the return fixture a much different proposition and were unceremoniously trounced 6–0. Thankfully, the threatened rain failed to materialise and despite the one-sided nature of the contest, it proved a very enjoyable day. Captain Terry Button and John Bendle were beaten 4&3, Peter Finch and Frank Reeves went down 2&1, Mike Ricketts and Colin Moon were on the end of a 4&2 defeat, Howard Nowell and Mike Cage lost 5&4 and big hitters, Cyril Blacker and Bob Smith, succumbed 6&5. Reg Curtis and Malcolm Tucker fought out a close contest before eventually losing one down.
Many months after the competition began, the Rupert Moore Seniors Championship has at last been completed with Bob Smith, in his first full year with the seniors lifting the trophy after demolishing Malcolm Tucker 6&4 in the final. Smith had put out Mike Ricketts 7&6 in the semi-final, while Tucker had a semi-final walkover due to Secretary, Ray Lake's illness. Everyone at the club wishes Ray a speedy recovery and hope that he will soon be back in action on the golf course.
