The December medal at the Seniors' section of Fosseway Golf Club saw the successful return of several members who have been out of action for a while for various reasons. The clear winner was John Dryburgh (centre) who has been unable to play regularly over the last few months. His nett score of 62 saw him three shots ahead of Arthur Bellinger (left above), who has just recovered from a hand operation, and John Wighton, (right) who has had knee surgery. Both players recorded nett 65, but Bellinger came second on countback.
The qualifying stages of the Winter League are now close to completion with just Division Two to be decided. In the first section, Malcolm Tucker goes through as winner with Mike Ricketts runner-up, newcomer Peter Boyce has won the third group, with John Williams in second place, with Bob Smith topping the fourth section, followed by Jack
Curtis. In group two, Reg Curtis is through and will be joined in the quarter-finals by either Frank Reeves or Denis White. Two quarter-final pairings already confirmed will see Tucker play Williams and Boyce playing Ricketts.
