Frome Swimming Club recently spent an evening celebrating the club's swimming success and thanking those individuals who go the extra length to keep the club afloat. Swimmers, aged from seven-years-old, were joined by siblings, parents, grandparents, friends and other family members as they assembled at Frome Football Club for a special night of presentations. Medals, trophies and swards had been decided at the Club Championships and all gathered together in a night of celebration as they were handed out.

Coaches, teachers, volunteers and Club President, Esther Levin, welcomed a very special guest, Olympic swimmer, Jemma Lowe. Jemma is a butterfly swimmer and British record holder. She was a member of the Great Britain team in both the 2008 and 2012 Olympic teams and has competed for Wales in the Commonwealth Games. Jemma holds the British records for 100 metres and 200 metres Butterfly at both long and short course, an inspirational lady for the swimmers of Frome Club. They seized their opportunity to ask Jemma some very interesting questions in an 'Open Mic' question and answer session. Inspiration, motivation, dedication and determination were integral for Jemma to make her childhood dream a reality of becoming an Olympian – not once but twice. At 24-years-old, Jemma has been driven to achieve her goals with the love, support and dedication of her family and Coaches.

Jemma stayed to help Club Lead Coach, Susie Hann, and Club President, Esther Levin, present many, well-deserved awards to the club's swimmers. Medals of Bronze, Silver and Gold, cups, large and small, as well as shields were proudly received by the swimmers for their outstanding achievements. In the presence of the double Olympian, perhaps some of Frome's swimmers may be the generation to be inspired and be the future for swimming. There were many new club records set and Lead Coach, Susie Hann, said: "It is fantastic to see so many members joined together in celebration of their achievements and with the inspiration provided by Jemma, I hope to see them winning many more medals and trophies in the future!"

The night was not only a time to receive, but also a time to give. Volunteers were recognised for their contribution to the ongoing running and success of the club for which the club members are truly grateful. Those who can make a difference do, a great night to embrace them and tell them how much they are valued. Whilst the mood was celebratory, it was a time for reflection for the swimmers, families, Coaches and teachers with the right training, focus, determination and hard work anything is possible. In fact, everything is.

Frome Swimming Club and its members would like to thank Frome Football Club for its kind generosity of use of the venue for the evening, which they gifted to the club to ensure everyone had a wonderful time.
