Full Fat Grappling, judo and BJJ club have recently travelled to Boston Massachusetts, USA with head coach Matthew Hucker and athletes Kern Foot and Cody Hucker, known to most as 'Chuck'.
They travelled to gain valuable experience training at Pedro's judo gym, which is owned and ran by two time Olympic Bronze medalist and former world judo champion, Jimmy Pedro. The three Full Fat athletes, along with a friend from another club, trained under Jimmy throughout their stay and amongst some of the US team on mats formerly used by UFC and WWE's star Ronda Rousey, Travis Stevens and Kayla Harrison.
Whilst Matthew and Kern came back with new techniques and more knowledge from the seven sessions they participated in, doing judo and BJJ, Chuck came back with increased knowledge, fitness and a new grade!
Whilst training with Sensei, Tyler and Jimmy, the US coaches were so impressed with Chuck's knowledge and understanding of the sport as well as his fighting ability, they decided to grade Chuck from a 4th Kyu orange to a 3rd Kyu green belt. (4th grade in the syllabus) It was a massive honour for the young 12-year-old who has been doing judo for eight years and has big ambitions, and a proud moment for Matthew, his father.
The Full Fat team is now home and ready to pass on what was learnt to the students at the club in Pratten's, Radstock, and are preparing for their next competitions at the Leicester Open, Zegreb Croatia and the English Open.
