With Christmas and New Year celebrations now a distant memory, we welcome 2020 and the start of a new decade bringing with it its usual renewed challenges and ambitions.

The first outing for Farrington Park Seniors brought out the expected plethora of new trollies, clubs and golfing apparel; not always exactly what was wanted, but it’s the thought that counts!

The course was in remarkably good condition, bearing in mind the horrendous rainfall experienced over the last three months. The greens, particularly, are in excellent nick. Once again, top marks for Andy and his crew.

A Four Ball Better Ball competition produced some very good scores, with only two points separating the top six teams.

Results: 1st Bob McKeegan-Brown and Steve Brixey, 45 points, 2nd Andy ‘Mr Shorts’ Snook and Tony Quinn, 44 points, 3rd Steve Hobbs and Mike Woodward, 44 points, 4th Jeff Bruton and Jim Farmer, 44 points, 5th Alan Fussell and Bob Baker, 44 points, 6th George Tyrrell and Mike Astle, 43 points.

There were eight players with a ‘2’ on their scorecards and each of them are now £6 the richer.
