The Captains’ Charity for Wells Golf Club during 2021 was the Lawrence Centre.

Situated in central Wells, The Lawrence Centre provides day opportunities for older people, including those living with memory loss and health issues.

Just before Christmas our outgoing Ladies’ Captains, Erica Klim and Club Captain, Dean Hamilton invited Maggie Charlesworth to come to the club to accept a cheque for the proceeds of the fund-

raising efforts during the past year.

Wells Ladies held the last Stableford fun competition of 2021 before Christmas which was won by Silvia Gibbon, Sue Slade and Gill Magrath. 

The following day the ladies turned their hands to flower arranging. A two hour course was held by Mary Harrison and the

ladies ranged from complete beginners to very experienced.

Unfortunately the popular Lundy Island competition was cancelled, but the course has been open throughout the holiday period helping all members (and many, many guests and visitors) burn off some of the seasonal excesses.
