Fixture Secretary, Howard Nowell, stole the honours when members of the Seniors’ section of Fosseway Golf Club held its annual Away Day at Cumberwell Park. His Stableford total of 38 points saw him finish four points clear of Malcolm Tucker, who beat third-placed Pat Cray on count back.

The top three also shared the prize for a two spot, together with Treasurer, Geoff Hallett. Cyril Blacker won a bottle of wine for the best front nine, with Tucker achieving the best back nine. Terry Button, who organised the day in his usual efficient manner, was rewarded with the prize for the longest drive.

There was disappointment for the Seniors in the second leg of their annual fixture with Brean. Having won 3.5–2.5 at Brean earlier in the year, they lost the return match 4–2 at home, allowing the visitors to retain the FosseBrean Trophy. Skipper, Gerry Rowell, did his bit, winning the opening encounter, 2&1 alongside Tucker, while Cray and Brian Phelps had a comfortable 6&4 success. John Bendle and Nowell lost the final hole to finish one down, Blacker and Nick Foxwell were beaten 3&1 and there were 3&2 defeats for Frank Reeves and Alan Jones and Button and Alan Gould.
