The weather couldn’t be classed as ‘spring-like’ on Thursday, as it wasn’t warm and sunny, but after the poor weather of recent weeks, it was good to be playing without the rain and howling winds spoiling a day’s golf.

The Ladies held a non-qualifying Stableford competition; the Duchy course being shortened because the 12th hole tee boxes are undergoing some major renovation work. Despite the slightly better weather, everyone struggled to make a decent score and only one player was close to playing to her handicap par. Surprisingly, no birdies or two-spot birdies were recorded this week.

Scoring in Division Two was close. Sandra Hares took first place with 29 points. Countback determined second and third places when two ladies finished with 28 points. Rookie, Issey Panton, made her first appearance at the top of a leader-board, taking second-place ahead of Lesley Stone.

The scores in Division One were slightly higher. Min Woodward had the best round of the day with 35 points; Jane Ball scored 31 points to take second place and Margaret Seery was third with 29 points.
