Sybil Tabb, the widow of former club stalwart Roger, was in attendance to present her late husband’s trophy in the Seniors’ section of Fosseway Golf Club.
The winter foursomes event required countback to decide the winners, with Seniors’ Captain, Gerry Rowell, and Brian Woodruff coming out on top, after the pair and second-placed Allen Cheney and Phil Moody both recorded a nett-67. Howard Nowell and Geoff Hallett were a further shot behind in third place.
After a long absence from golf following a knee operation, Mike Ricketts marked his return to action in style, joining up with Bert Austin and Malcolm Tucker to win the Vic South Trophy. Their stableford total of 81 points in the winter bowmaker saw them finish one point ahead of Reg Curtis, Frank Reeves and Brian Phelps, who beat third-placed Bill Lester, Brian Fear and Cyril Blacker on countback.
