Allen Cheney enjoyed another fruitful week in the Seniors’ section of Fosseway Golf Club, but just failed to win his second trophy in consecutive weeks.
His nett score of 59 in the Colin Eaton Three Club Challenge led the field until the last group on the course completed their round. Graham Edgell then came in with another 59 and on countback, he took the trophy. Cyril Blacker, with a nett 62, came in third beating Malcolm Tucker on countback.
The in-form Cheney is also through to the final of the Winter League after beating Ken Tucker in the semi-final. He will have to wait some time to play the final, however, as his opponent, Bob Smith, suffered a leg fracture when he fell on the course during the previous week’s competition and will be out of action for a couple of months.
