The Seniors section of Fosseway Golf Club visited Orchardleigh for their annual away day and it again proved a huge success.
Members found it a challenging course but Paul Trigg headed the field with an impressive haul of 37 Stableford points. Martyn Cuer was second, two points further back with competition secretary Chris Appleton third on 34 points . Mike Ricketts won the award for the best front nine with 19 points with Malcolm Tucker recording the best back nine again with 19 points. Cuer and Alan White won the awards for nearest the pin on the 7th and 17th holes with Cuer capping a successful day as the only the player to achieve a two spot. Thanks go to Allen Cheney and Geoff Hallett for their contributions to the day.
The Seniors suffered a 4-2 defeat in their final social match of the season away to Folke Golf Club in Dorset but it proved a highly enjoyable day on a course in good condition and against hospitable opponents. Mike Weeks and Graham Edgell were the one pair to come out on top and they did so in impressive fashion winning by 6&4. Gerry Rowell and Mike Ricketts and Alan White paired with Malcolm Tucker halved their matches but there were defeats for Alan Jones and Phil Winsley (3&2) , captain Frank Dance and Chris Appleton (5 &4) and Cyril Blacker and Paul Ellis (6&4).
Cuer is enjoying a purple patch at the moment and he lifted the Mark Bridges Cup with a fine score of 37 points in the Murphy’s Stableford event in challenging conditions. Richard Dancey was second with 33 points and Rex Wyatt was third with 30 beating Jones and Tucker on countback.
