A rain-soaked, wind-swept Farrington Park was the unwelcome greeting for seventy Senior golfers looking forward to a fun morning playing an unusual format.

Players go out as a three ball. The two best Stableford scores are multiplied together and that is the first hole over with.

If two players ‘blob’ the hole then sadly even if the third player scores four points, there is no score for that hole, meaning a solitary walk to the next tee for that player!

Despite the atrocious conditions, only four teams failed to complete the eighteen holes.

Results are as follows:

First place went to Mike Mahoney, Brian Brown and Jim Farmer with one hundred and twenty four points.

Second place was Ian Clement, Nigel Punchard and Bob Baker with one hundred and nineteen points.

Third place went to Laurence Barlow, Andy Smart and Mike Rogers with one hundred and sixteen points.

Fourth place went to Steve Symonds, Fraser McGregor and Steve Mitchell with one hundred and sixteen points.

Fifth place went to Tony Quinn, Paul Cains and Richard Leworthy with one hundred and fifteen points.

Sixth place went to Ham Ridene, Mike Woodward and Adrian Miller with one hundred and three points.

The friendly match away to the Isle of Wedmore was a win for the home side by 4.5 - 2.5.
