One of the latest recruits in the Seniors section of Fosseway Golf Club stole the honours in the November medal and he did it in style.

Bob Townsend’s nett total of 63 saw him finish a clear four shots ahead of the rest of the field on a day when scoring was never easy. Richard Sullivan came in second with a nett 67 with Competition Secretary Chris Appleton third on 68.

Appleton was again in good form in the qualifying stages of the Guerwyn Thomas Trophy joining up with Brian Phelps to record the best score of the day with a nett 59. Also on 59 were Richard Sullivan and Richard Dancey. The other pairs to qualify for the quarter-finals were Pat Cray and Mike Weeks (62), Paul Trigg and Frank Reeves (64), Graham Edgell and Malcolm Tucker (65), George Thurston and Alan White (66), Mike Ricketts and Paul Ellis (67) and Alan Jones and Harold Lidbitter (68). In the quarter-finals Appleton and Phelps face Jones and Lidbitter, Sullivan and Dancey meet Ricketts and Ellis, Cray and Weeks will come up against Thurston and White and Trigg and Reeves will compete against Edgell and Tucker. The four matches are due to take place December 14th.
