The Seniors’ Winter Foursomes competition this year was won by Nick Carter and Nick Wilson, who defeated Richard Birch and Rod Patch, 3-1, in the Final.

The plate competition was won by Bob Handford and Mike Bailey, who defeated Micky Currell and Ken Mitchell, 3-2, in a tight game.

The final of the Ladies’ Winter Foursomes took place on Easter Saturday in glorious sunshine! The closely-fought match came to its conclusion on the 20th hole, with Erica Klim and Cath Levell the winners and Glynis Slater and Diane Ramsay the runners-up.

The Stragglers played their first match of the season away to Saltford for the Swells Trophy. Six teams played, and Wells were soundly thrashed, 5-1.

To start with, John Baker – who is an engineer and shopkeeper – turned up with trolley, battery, but no lead to connect the two together! A lovely, dry day kept the course in excellent condition.

I have to mention Guy Timson (“I only flew in and landed at 1.30 this morning!”) and Adam Holliday (“I was working until 2 this morning!”) were the only winners on the 18th.
