PAUL Hunt, of Pensford, now playing his snooker - billiards at Clutton Social Club, claims to have needed a sporting challenge every week of his life, whether it be football, cricket, table tennis darts or whatever.
His passion for playing snooker started when he was 15 years old, playing at his local club in the Miners Hall at Pensford where they enjoyed the luxury of having two tables.
Paul has over the years been part of winning several team competitions, but claims to probably have more singles runners-up trophies than anyone else in the Radstock & District Billiards and Snooker League. However, this came to an end in the 2024-25 season when he won the Over 45s billiards championship, squeezing home against Andy Verral in the final.
His team also won the Billiards KO Championship in the same season led by captain Howard Jones, and players Dave Pulsford, Roy Cains and Mo Dury.
Clutton D also won the snooker championship.
