After a series of runner-up spots, John Appleton at last got over the winning line in the Seniors section of Fosseway Golf Club.

In partnership with Jack Curtis, he won the Stan Brown Cup with a nett score of 59.

Gerry Rowell and Malcolm Tucker also went round in 59, but were beaten into second place on countback. Colin Moon and Henry Thomas came in third, with a nett 61, beating Pete Fitch and Phil Moody, again on countback.

On International Happiness Day, it was Mike Ricketts who sported the widest smile at the March Medal event.

His nett score of 63 saw him a clear winner from Roger Parfitt, who finished with a nett score of 66. John Ticehurst also went round in 66, but was placed third on countback.

This Thursday, the club will be holding the first round of the Rupert Moore Trophy, which will lead to the Seniors Individual Championship.
