Last Thursday found the Farrington Park ladies playing a Four Ball Betterball Stableford pairs’ competition in memory of founder member, Dorothy Jackman.

The warm and windy conditions together with the dry fairways helped everyone. There were two-spot birdies at the par 3 holes from June Symonds (5th), Pauline Brixey (8th & 15th) and an eagle from Carol King at the par 4 1st hole.

Fifteen of the 21 teams scored 42 points or more, of which six teams scored 45 points but their hopes were dashed when Heather Woodland and Gill Russell returned with 46 points. However, even this fine score was not enough to take the honours. Carol King’s eagle for five points started a very good round and playing partner, Lally Gibson. They had ten pars as well and finished with 47 points. Good enough to win? Well, not quite. Pauline Brixey was on a birdie roll, and together with playing partner Gail Proctor added nine pars into the mix too. A great score of 48 points gave the Jackman Trophy to Gail and Pauline by one point.
