21 golfers from the Men, Ladies and Seniors' sections of Farrington Park Golf Club participated in a Golf Marathon to raise money for Cancer Research UK, the chosen charity of the year.

Four rounds of golf were fitted into one day, with Men's Captain, Paul Thomas, starting proceedings by teeing off at 5 a.m.

To keep everyone interested, an Eclectic Competition was played over the Marathon's four golf rounds, with the best score counting on each hole. After 72 holes of golf played over thirteen hours, some very tired players arrived back at the clubhouse. The competition winners were Chris Shanks, with the best gross score of 61 and Dave Jewell, with the best nett score of 63. Paul Thomas thanked everyone for their support and sponsorship, the Ladies for their help at the food stations and the golf club for their support on the day.

A special mention must go to Gail Proctor's dog, Scrumpy, who walked the entire four rounds collecting donations in his moneybags and contributed £55 towards the eventual overall amount donated of £5,000.
