The late winter weather continues to disrupt golf events at present. However, one hundred and two Mendip competitors took part in the Pro Shop combined pairs event which saw a very close finish.

Louise and Tony Scott were third with seventry five points after countback from Colin Wiltshire and Andy Neave and Dan Allen playing with Lee Britten. Beaten into second place with eighty one points, again on countback, were Ryan Sainsbury and Clive Copp but the deserved winners with an excellent winning score of eighty one, with both players contributing an almost equal number of points, were long standing members Terry Carter and Ex Officio of a number of roles, Jim Scott. Very well played.

Nearest the Pin went to Seniors Captain Steve Davis with Spencer Pocock second and John Ellis third.

The Veterans Prizes in last weeks Seniors Competition went to Alan Williams in first place with thirty nine points, Rob Stanton was second with thirty eight and John Toull was third with thirty seven after countback.

The Mendip Seniors held their annual dinner and presentation night with a full Clubhouse who sat down to an excellent meal before the Seniors Captain, Steve Davis, made his annual address.

Steve thanked the various parties who did so much work helping to run this very busy section of the Club, in particular the Fixtures Secretary Andy Frampton, the Seniors Treasurer, Nick Inskip and Vice Captain Rob Miller who not only oversaw all the competitive side but also partnered Steve in all the Challenge matches during the season.

Thirty nine Friendly matches were played with twenty two being won and three halved. The prestigious Tidworth Trophy was retained this year. The Scratch KO Team reached the last sixteen to lose to the eventual competition winners. The Seniors Rose Bowl Team lost to Wells who again went on to win the Final. The Seniors Avalon Team had a mixed season finishing fifth in their league.

Various events produced funds for Steve’s Charity, The British Heart Foundation and Steve thanked all those who had contributed to this very worthy cause.

The Seniors Captain’s away day at Lyme Regis proved very popular with seventy two players making the trip. All in all, another very successful year for the Section.
