Mendip Ladies Seconds had a strong start back after the Christmas break, in a friendly against Mid-Somerset.

The game was played well by two similarly-matched sides. However, Mendip managed to gain the majority of the possession and come on top with a 2-1 win.

The game started well for Mendip, who made it difficult for the opposition to gain possession of the ball, with midfielders, Ella Constable, Jackie Browning, Karen Inns and Sally Stanford, making early exchanges between each other to stay in the Mid-Somerset’s half and push towards goal, where they

created many chances to score.

After a number of missed opportunities, Jackie made an excellent pass to Karen, who skilfully swept the ball past the keeper, with just seconds of the first half left to go.

The great play from both teams continued, and Mid-Somerset managed to equalise, but Mendip continued to skilfully pass the ball around the opposition and up to towards Eva Holliwell and Abbie Sage.

After some determination and excellent passing between the duo, Eva made the cross to Emma Winsley to score the last goal.
