Mendip worked hard for an away point on Saturday against a physical Bridgwater side.
Bridgwater began brightly, committing players to their attack from the first whistle. Mendip were slow to react to their hosts’ formation, and it was not long before an unmarked player in the D found time to shoot. This first shot was saved, but Bridgwater were quick to the rebound and slotted the ball home.
Mendip gradually got themselves into the game, with midfielders April Callow, Hayley Bullock and Brenda Scott looking to build attacks, with fluent passing and movement.
Jasmine Scott got Mendip back on terms late in the first half, putting the finishing touch to a super run and shot by her Mum, Brenda.
Mendip had the better of the second half chances, with Georgie Kelly and Hayley Young both putting the Bridgwater defence under pressure. A couple of late penalty corner chances went begging, as Bridgwater held on for the draw.
Mendip take a two week break from league action, to coincide with the school half-term break.
