MINSTRELS 39 DOVES 14
The first game of 2020 for Minstrels, with some new team members due to Christmas Reselection. The first quarter saw Minstrels take their time to find their stride, however, once we did, the goals began to roll in, finishing the quarter on eight goals. A strong defence, with Emma W and Laura kept to only two goals.
The second quarter was another strong quarter for defence with a slight change seeing Jemma coming into GD, and she and Laura working hard as a team to intercept balls into the circle.
A brilliant quarter, in which Doves only managed another three goals. The attack worked even harder in this quarter with a strong shooting circle consisting of Alice and SJ which saw our score raise to 15.
The third quarter was our best of the match. The shooting circle stayed the same and we achieved a huge 15 goals. Attack worked well at getting that ball into the circle, with Frankie at C being everywhere she needed to be and Katie getting some interceptions in mid-court to turn over some balls.
Tash took up an old favourite position of GD and was smashing out some brilliant defending, working hard to keep their goals to only ten in this quarter.
By the fourth quarter, we made some changes to push and challenge our team.
Jemma took up the centre position and led the team really well in this crucial role, Alice dropped into GK and her added height was a bonus to have in the circle.
Frankie dropped back to WD and was brilliant at encouraging defence to bring the ball up the court, with Tash sticking at GD for another quarter.
Nat and SJ also paired together in the shooting circle for the first time with some brilliant shooting, where we gained another nine goals.
Another brilliant win and fantastic first game of 2020. Frankie received Player of the Match and SJ received Opposition’s Player of the Match.
