Toolstation First Division side, Welton Rovers FC, are delighted to announce the appointment of three new Directors in the shape of Gareth Paisey, Clayton Dando and Stuart Rogers, pictured above.
Gareth, of Midsomer Norton, is a former Welton Rovers player, but is best known as one of the leading members of indie band, Los Campesinos! who played at Glastonbury and appeared as guests on Soccer AM, as well as having their music used on Budweiser TV commercials for the past four years. The band have really made their mark in the US, including an appearance on the David Letterman Show.
Clayton Dando makes the move upstairs after being a part of the matchday support team for the past few seasons. Buff' played for the First and Reserve Teams many times.
Stuart Rogers returns to the club after a six-year sabbatical, having been working in London. He has now returned to the area and works as a Corporate Tax Director for Francis Clark LLP. Now living in Bitton, Stuart will be advising the club on a number of areas, but will be tasked with supporting Clayton, Gareth and new chairman Stuart Minall, as well as long-standing Board Members, Dave Gilson, Tim Rogers and Malcolm Price. He said: "Stuart Minall was one of the most passionate players to have played for Welton Rovers in recent times and he has made some excellent off-the-field signings this summer. That being the case, I couldn't say no to a second spell at the club. There is a lot to do and times have been tough, but we did it before fifteen years ago, and can do it again. We have some great ideas to get organised including a dinner for former players from the last twenty years, a team to run the Bath Half Marathon in 2014 and a 'Welton Legends' grand dinner. I' am excited and looking forward to working with everyone at the club again."
Gareth Paisey added: "It is a real honour to become a director at the football club I have supported all my life. I want to see Welton emulate the successes my elder relatives have been privileged enough to witness, and return to their rightful place as Western League kingpins."
Welton are well into their pre-season schedule now, with further matches to come at West Clewes against Mangotsfield (Saturday, 27th July, 3 p.m.) and Paulton Rovers (Monday, 29th July, 7.30 p.m.).
