Timsbury Athletic lifted the gloom which has hung over the club since the start of the campaign with a 2–1 home win over near neighbours, Farrington Gurney, in the Errea Somerset County League Division Two East. Despite having one of the best pitches in the area and a strong administrative set-up, new Manager, Kelvin Hancock, has struggled to attract players to the club and after four successive defeats, this result will provide the first positive vibes of the season.

George Veater had the first real chance of the game for the home side, but, with the goal gaping, headed Ben Manning's cross wide of the post. Leon Rigby then brought Timsbury keeper, Joe Towells, into action with a shot which was comfortably saved while skipper, James Colman, headed wide for the visitors. Timsbury front runner, Joe Parker, almost took advantage of a weak back-pass only to see his intended flick to Manning cleared by the home side, but it was Farrington creating most of the chances and Towells did well to save from Anthony Ford.

With half-time approaching, the visitors enjoyed their best spell of the game and Dean Bennett shot over and then headed wide, while Colman also put his header past the post.

Early in the second half, Chris Bridges shot over for Farrington with a speculative shot from well out and Dean Romain was wide with a left-foot effort. As the half progressed, Manning and Parker began to establish an understanding up front which could promise well for the future and it was their partnership which broke the deadlock after 65 minutes. Manning put Parker clear and his lob evaded Farrington keeper, Jamie Kirby. Manning then came close to increasing the lead, but his shot was saved by Kirby and Matt Spencer hit the rebound over the top.

As Farrington pressed for an equaliser Towells saved well from Darren Whitfield and substitute, Liam Gibbs, missed a great chance after a defensive mix-up in the home box.

It was to prove crucial because within minutes Manning capped a fine match with an excellent individual goal which doubled the home side's advantage. The visitors were not finished and with a minute of normal time remaining, Romain pulled a goal back with a firm header.

Despite late pressure, Timsbury held on to mark their first home game of the season with their first goals and points of the season.
