Club Director, Stuart Rogers, commented: "This is absolutely fantastic news for Welton Rovers. We now have the means to knock down the old wooden stand and replace it with something which is fit for purpose. West Clewes will look much improved once the work is done and finally a ground that we and the town can begin to be proud of. There have been a number of doubters, however, the new stand at West Clewes is now very real and we can be certain it's going to happen. Welton Rovers is a club going places.

"The work will need to be scheduled in and we will be discussing a number of issues with our project partners in the next few weeks. Once decisions are made, we will let everyone know our timetable. The grant also gives us the opportunity to get our Sponsor A Seat promotion online and secure a commercial sponsor for the stand – more on which we will be announcing in due course.

"The project to improve West Clewes doesn't end there, we have got ambitions to improve the changing rooms, the clubhouse and the floodlights in the next five years or so and once we've got the stand done, the momentum will be there to achieve the whole plan. It's very exciting and this is an important moment in securing the club's long-term future."
