On a day when most matches were affected by the weather, Midsomer Norton won the toss and elected to bat first in a game reduced to 28 overs per side.

Britton struck early to remove James Harvey, but Alex Lear (46) showed a return to form as he shared in a second wicket partnership of 95 with Martin Cox. This was the backbone of the innings. Cox made 68, before Connell took an excellent catch to dismiss him and the innings lost its momentum as Milton and Dewhurst picked up five wickets between them.

The target of 148 looked to be below par, but Norton's bowling and fielding performance showed a marked improvement and the visitors were soon in trouble at 28–5. Turner accounted for both openers with the help of Harvey and Pang in the slips and Cox (3–13) induced several rash shots at the other end. Joe Brimble showed patience batting at three and his partnership with Everett looked promising until he was run out by Potter. Everett was unbeaten on 35, but the remaining batsmen were dismissed by Pang who returned excellent figures of 3–6.

This Saturday, the First XI travel to Old Bristolians Westbury CC, while Marshfield provide the opposition for the Second XI at Withies Lane. The Third XI welcome Oldfield Park to Somervale, while the Sunday Firsts visit Keynsham.
